Defence Research & Experimentation
Find out more about the trials and experimentation projects.
Trials & Development
Rob O’Connor has a strong pedigree in delivering defence experimentation. As commanding officer of the Infantry Trials and Development Unit, he delivered the experimentation which provided the British Army with the evidence to justify the Dismounted Situational Awareness (DSA) project. Rob was also instrumental in the establishment of the Army Warfighting Experiment (AWE) series.
Research & Experimentation Projects
Noise Induced Hearing Loss
Pardus Defence & Security Ltd has supported Soteria Defence and Security (SDS) Ltd in the delivery of a number of research and experimentation projects for the British Army. These include:
Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) associated with the British Army’s 81mm mortar. The project identified a number of potential cross domain solutions to address the limitations placed upon the system due to the problem of NIHL.
Automated Artillery Systems
This project conducted a review of the implications of autonomy and automation for artillery from a system of systems viewpoint that encompassed the surveillance and target acquisition (STA), command, control, computation and communication (C4), the effector (weapon and ammunition) and resupply.
Close Combat Experimentation
This is a three year project to provide analysis and experimentation to provide evidence, insights and recommendations for cross Defence Lines of Development (DLoD) change, particularly Doctrine and Organisation, that will support the Field Army Force Optimisation programme (WARDEV) and Ground Manoeuvre (GM) capability development (CAPDEV).
The current focus of the experiment is Operations in Forests.
